Get to know me
My name is Sean Forsyth. I’m an Enrolled Agent and I love what I do! Click on the words “enrolled agent” if you’re unfamiliar with what that is and want to understand more.
A defining moment in my life occurred when I was fresh out of high school and sitting in my Financial Accounting I class. I was still unsure of what I wanted to do with my future so I had declared “business” as my major and I was sampling classes from a variety of areas. It was after an exam when the professor asked me to stay behind after everyone else had left that things became clear for me. She explained to me during this meeting that I was the first student to ace that exam in her career and encouraged me to pursue a career in accounting. It was her push, and that of a mentor that I met at my first firm, that guided me to where I am today.
I thoroughly enjoy the field that I work in and have only deepened that love as I’ve gotten further into the industry. My favorite part of my job is analyzing a complex or undesirable situation and finding a way to provide the client with an optimal solution. To me, tax & accounting is like a puzzle…and I find it fun when I figure out how to put the pieces together perfectly.
When I’m not working away with numbers, I enjoy spending my time with my pets and my husband. You can usually find us checking out new restaurants, hiking our favorite trails, or spending time with our friends and family. If we’re not doing that, you can for sure find us traveling…which has proven to be our favorite hobby!
…and the practice
I’ve been working in the tax & accounting industry for ten years. In that time, I’ve worked for some of the best firms in the industry who taught me how to do things the right way…the first time!
I’ve spent a decade saving people (and their businesses) from paying more tax than they should. While everyone should pay their fair share, they shouldn’t have to do that in excess. Through the skills that I’ve learned, and some strategies that I came up with two, I’ll make sure you’re in good shape.
Running a business isn’t just about taxes though, you always have books and records to care for. People often think that a simple excel spreadsheet is sufficient…or that they can write off things that they can’t. Only after they’ve ended up in a mess, do they realize that they don’t want to be responsible for this part of their business. The truth is, you shouldn’t be bogged down worried about accounting, financial statements, reconciliations, or books. I pride myself in taking that burden away from you so that you can focus on what truly matters…running your company and attending to your clients!
Other firms spend their time figuring out how they can make the most money off of you, but I don’t and that’s what sets me apart. This firm is focused on developing a relationship with you. I want to be your trusted advisor and your “business friend,” and that’s how I’m going to treat you. Don’t worry about being on the clock with me. I charge you based on difficulty and I don’t track time…so don’t expect a bill for every email and phone call.
